Dymag have been manufacturing cast magnesium wheels since the company was founded in the early 70's. During these 30 odd years of manufacturing, Dymag have produced wheels for an extremely diverse range of applications including: F1, Indy Car, F3000/FF2000, GT, WTCC and World Rally to name a new.
The obvious benefits of Cast Magnesium wheels are their weight, or rather lack of it, and strength. Using the casting technique also provides the ability to cast complex shapes including hollow-spoke sections, which are very light & stiff. These are the main two performance wheel design criteria & therefore casting gives you the optimum design flexibility.
As an example, the weight of a 16 x 7" Dymag Cast Magnesium front wheel for an Elise 111R weighs only 5.3kg compared to a standard cast alloy which weighs around 12kg. Multiply that by 4 and you have a significant weight saving and performance gain from the un-sprung weight advantage.
Dymag's comprehensive range of wheel sizes (see below) make them ideal for all classes of racing:- Single Seater formulas, GT, Rallying, Touring Car, Sports Car etc:
