The SX-1 is a compact high performance, high reliability design for isolating both the battery negative and battery positive power to the ignition system on command, thus stopping the engine and preventing the alternator voltage supplying the car with power to continue. The unit's performance is continually monitored with an onboard microprocessor, which also provides diagnostic information. Switching current levels and temperatures are monitored and controlled within safe limits on both negative and positive power outputs. The control signals are supplied to the unit from low voltage signals via manually controlled switches inside the cockpit for the driver and outside the car for use by track marshals in case of an emergency.
This high specification Solid State Isolator has no moving parts. It is reliable with no more overheating problems causing spurious malfunction. Utilises unique heat management systems allowing ultra reliable operation at high currents and high temperatures. It isolates both Negative and Positive voltage rails with switching current capacities in excess of 500 Amps without any heat sinking and up to 800 Amps with additional heat sinking. Although powerful, the isolators have been designed to drain extremely small currents in standby mode, typically 80 µAmps and therefore will not drain your battery.
