Hot-Lap design and manufacture the 4 Point cage below for race and trackday use for the Lotus Elise/Exige family of cars:-
S1 Elise Motorsport Elise S2 K Series (long & short roof) S2 111R S2 Exige
The existing roll bar in the S1 suffered in that the supporting struts in the engine bay were not sufficiently strong and therefore required an additional petit-bar in order to meet safety requirements. The S2 used a sectioned hoop in two different diameters, which is unacceptable for racing and further the rear struts into the engine bay are too weak.
All Hot-Lap cages for the Elise and Exige are designed for added strength and improved safety. This has come about as a result of developing a cage specifically to meet the very stringent and demanding safety requirements for use in rallying.
The 4-Point Cage now employs a continuous hoop and the conventional A frame is replaced with a left and right diagonal forming a cross with the harness bar passes through the cross in the same plane. The strengthened rear struts are welded to the main hoop for strength and pass through into the engine bay. The fitting of the gusseted struts in the engine bay uses the existing screw fitting through a vertical tube into the chassis and is designed to surround the shock mounting points for added structural strength. This exceeds the MSA guidlines for 'Race Car' roll cages.

Supply & Fit
The Type A - 4 Point cage design is of a fully welded construction and forms the rear half of all the Hot-Lap 6 Point cages.
Cage shown is for an Elise 111R/S2 Exige (Toyota series).
The cages can be supplied unpainted or powder coated in a range of colours and can be bought as Supply Only or Supply and Fit. The roll cage is complete and ready to fit without any welding required. A fitting service can be carried out through our network of professional installers depending on customer preference and location if required.
The Hot-Lap rear cage replaces the existing hoop and the rear struts into the engine bay are thicker and stronger and welded onto the hoop. The main hoop is made from 45mm CDS 2.54 mm thick. The left and right diagonal, harness bar and the struts into the engine bay are 38mm CDS and the fixing ends in the engine bay are formed around the suspension points and gusseted for additional strength. All of the Hot-Lap cages can be manufactured in T45 if required.
Installation:
The rear clam will have to be removed in order to replace the old hoop and fit the new cage. It is advisable to remove the rear window before inserting the new cage. The rear window can then be re-fitted or replaced with a lighter polycarbonate windscreen. Full photographic installation instructions are supplied with the cage.
